NCQA is governed by a Board of Directors that includes employers, consumer and labor representatives, health plans, quality experts, policy makers and representatives from organized medicine.
ODS Quality Improvement Programs
ODS is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services for all our members. We continually monitor and evaluate our services as part of our effort to make healthcare easier for you and better for our members.
Quality programs oversight
The ODS Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for the oversight of the ODS quality programs. The Board delegates the operation of quality programs to the Medical Quality Improvement Committee (MQIC).
Members of the MQIC represent key service areas of the health plan, including senior management and the chief medical officer. The committee monitors and evaluates the quality of services provided to our members, ensuring that quality improvements are made. Throughout the year, we use industry-standard tools to measure performance.

- Quality of care
We use Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), a standardized set of health plan industry measures, to gauge our performance. Using HEDIS, we measure the quality of preventive health, early diagnosis and management of chronic disease among our programs and contracted providers. We also use HEDIS to monitor the progress of quality improvement projects as well as identify ways to improve the health of our members and improvement opportunities in how ODS providers care for our members. - Member satisfaction
Every year, we administer the Consumer Assessment of Health Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey. CAHPS is a standardized survey that asks members to report on their experience with healthcare services. This survey includes ratings of our healthcare practitioners and our health plan. - Health plan accreditation
In March 2010, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) awarded its highest accreditation status of Excellent to the ODS Oregon Commercial Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) lines of business. NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of healthcare plans and organizations. Its mission is to improve healthcare quality and to help consumers, employers and others make more informed healthcare choices.
